I started training with Greg at Primitive Athlete seven years ago. I was out of shape, and really had no desire or passion for working out. Then I started training in the martial arts, along with a high intensity workout routine. This regimen gave me exactly what I was looking for in a workout routine. It was fun and exciting. It gave me a sense of accomplishment and pride I didn’t know I could achieve.

Greg Murphy has worked with me on a one-to-one basis as my personal trainer for almost 10 years. We first started working out together at LA Fitness in Manoa, where Greg was a staff trainer. Four years ago we started working together privately at a small local fitness center and then subsequently for the last few years at my home.

When I first met Greg Murphy at a gym in Havertown, PA I was 220 lbs, had just been diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and was a few months shy of my fiftieth birthday. I was lifting weights a few times a week, trying to ‘get in shape’ just so I could breathe. I couldn’t walk up a flight of steps without stopping to catch my breath. I met Murph eight years ago and watched him shadow box at the gym. He moved so strong and fast, I couldn’t believe it! I signed up to have him train me. Now, after working with Murph, I feel and look better than I did at 30!

I can’t say enough about how great my experience has been training with Greg. I have worked out with different trainers for over 20 years, and Greg is by far the most efficient and knowledgeable personal trainer I have ever worked with.

Several years ago I started to notice a pain in my right shoulder that worsened as time went on. The doctors said that I had a rotator cuff problem and was a good candidate for surgery. After talking to a few guys at the gym who had had the surgery and reading online about the experience of others, I quickly decided that surgery was not for me. Both my vocation as a photographer and my avocation as a musician wouldn’t allow me the 6 months recovery time that it seemed to take.

I have been working out with Greg for 6 years and, I have to say, he changed my life. I have M.S. and have been struggling for years to just make it up and down the steps without falling. This has been so difficult for me as I am in my 60s now and was an active hiker into my 40s. This disease completely altered my life, which made me very depressed.
