Primitive Athlete Success Story: Rotator Cuff Rehabilitation

Primitive Athlete can help you overcome chronic illness
When I first met Greg Murphy at a gym in Havertown, I was 220 lbs, had just been diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and was a few months shy of my fiftieth birthday. I was lifting weights a few times a week, trying to “get in shape” just so I could breathe. I couldn’t walk up a flight of steps without stopping to catch my breath.
I met Murph eight years ago and watched him shadow box at the gym. He moved so strong and fast, I couldn’t believe it! I signed up to have him train me.
Greg turned me into a believer
I started weight training with him, thinking I would never be able to do anything that required cardio or sustained movement. After a month or so of this, Murph encouraged me to come to his house and said that he would train me to see if he could get me in better shape.
When I started a high intensity cardio regimen, I couldn’t do more than 15-20 seconds of movement at a steady pace without stopping to catch my breath. But, after a few months of blood, sweat and tears, I started being able to move for longer periods of time and began working in shadow boxing and martial arts. I started an odd mix of exercises along with running and lifting and my breathing got better and better, stretching my good lung tissue.
