Primitive Athlete Success Story: Overcome Injury and Avoid Surgery

Several years ago I started to notice a pain in my right shoulder that worsened as time went on. The doctors said that I had a rotator cuff problem and was a good candidate for surgery. After talking to a few guys at the gym who had had the surgery and reading online about the experience of others, I quickly decided that surgery was not for me. Both my vocation as a photographer and my avocation as a musician wouldn’t allow me the 6 months’ recovery time that it seemed to take.
About this time I had started to work with Greg Murphy as my personal trainer. When I informed him of my shoulder problem he was immediately determined to help me overcome injury without surgery. We started on a gradual but comprehensive plan to build up all the muscles surrounding the injured area without stressing the rotator cuff itself. Over the first few weeks the pain started to subside and eventually it became a non-issue. I continue to work out with Greg, and to this day have no problem whatsoever with my shoulder, thus I’ve been able to overcome injury and avoid surgery altogether.
Greg is a consummate professional. He has a passion for what he does and is constantly improving his techniques. Just like any good artist or musician, he is creative in a way that I have never seen in his field before. It makes working out interesting and fun, as well as extraordinarily effective. I couldn’t be more pleased with how Greg has helped me with my shoulder and with my overall fitness in general.
